After a successful launch last year the GABS Label Design Awards are back and bigger, with cash prizes for winning designers.
Here at Pursuit of Hoppiness, we are rapt to support this event and help with the judging, and also publish the award-winning labels. Last year Garage Project’s Harmonic Convergence took top prize ahead of Heyday West Coast IPA and Boneface Sabotage.
The GABS Label Design Awards focus on brilliantly executed artwork that first catches a craft beer lover’s eye. That pop of colour, witty copy, and bold design that leaps off the shelf. In the world of craft beer, first impressions count. Entries are open from October 12 to 18.
All New Zealand breweries and cidermakers are invited to submit just one beer can or bottle design for consideration. It’s completely free to enter and the only rule is that the entry must be a packaged beer released after the October 19, 2020, and have been available for the public to purchase. The top 10 designs will be selected in a people’s choice vote and then adjudicated by a panel of industry experts.
The brewery behind the winning design will receive a set of printing plates from the awards presenting partner, Orora valued at $3,000 with an additional $5,000 worth of prizes from Opal Specialty Packaging shared amongst the Top 10.
This year, for the first time, GABS will also reward the designer behind the winning design with $1,000 in cash!
