While non-alcohol beers might be the talk of the town at the moment, simply light beers (the original sensible beer) are still around too, and still making strides towards better quality. While Auckland’s Behemoth Brewing are usually more about the big, they can also handle the small, and Fun Sized IPA is a great demonstration of just how much room there is to move inside the 2.5% arena if the hops and brewing are done right.
Cool and grassy on the nose, with bright citrus and pineapple further in. The palate is impeccably crisp, with just enough malt crunch to give the hop driven character something to cling onto, and a brief, cleansing bitterness to sweep up the finish. A stellar IPA in its own right, and one of the finest 2.5% examples I’ve ever tried.
