Who doesn’t love the smell of smoke in the evening? A charcoal or wood-fired barbecue adds that extra layer of romance to your grill and the perfect complement is to wrap your paws around a Pit Boss from North End Brewing. Brewed in the traditional German rauchbier style this is smoked doppelbock which means it’s got a rich malt base, but it is actually a lager so the body is lighter than you might expect. The smoke – created by with manuka wood in the Salt & Wood restaurant smoker – is savoury but gentle. This is a grogeous style, executed perfectly. Great food beer too: try with something low and slow that you’ve cooked over coals.
