Along with NZ Rakau and Waimea, this is the first pilsner I’ve (knowingly) encountered that also utilises the super-fruity Nectaron hop. A daring choice for a pilsner (5% ABV), and one that shows right from the very first brush with the sharp and pungently fruity nose. Gooseberry and passionfruit, pineapple and tart mandarin. The clean malt base shows through for just a moment before the palate swings back to ripe citrus and tropicals, which persist into the mildly bitter finish. This is a beer that fully embraces the hop-forward New Zealand Pilsner style and does not look back for a second.
