I’ve been loving Urbanaut’s recent trend of releasing big beers in small cans. This Strong Ale is modelled after the classic Thomas Hardy’s Vintage Ale, an English style Barleywine from the UK. As per the style this is smooth and rich with decadent notes of candied pecans, vanilla and toffee. The oakiness of the barrel character underpins it all and carries a mouthcoating, viscous sweetness with a huge alcohol warmth and sweet unctuous finish. A banging Barleywine that is a perfect bridge to the style for people used to big stouts.
