Blackberry Way is the latest sour from Warkworth pioneers 8 Wired. A departure from their variations on the classic Hippy Berliner this features lactose (milk sugar) which provides some rounded mellow sweetness with smooth vanilla to the gentle tartness. Less acidic and punchy than most sours this has a light, soft mouthfeel making it a fantastic gateway beer for those unfamiliar with the style. It finishes dry and moreish. For me it’s lacking a little blackberry character but there’s not enough blackberry in the world to satisfy my palate so hard to ping it much there!
