Abandoned Double XPA

Abandoned Brewery from Lower Hutt are back in cans after a hiatus. This Beervana hit is interestingly described as a double XPA rather than an IPA, and they’re not kidding around.  It pours a remarkable light pale considering the 8.4 per cent ABV.  Extremely resinous and piney on the nose, with tropical mango and tangerine citrus further in.  The malt keeps to the background on the palate, leaving the hops to really explode.  Weighty on the palate, but still agile and rapid, racing through tropical fruit to fresh pine and onto the gripping bitterness in a flash.  A terrific double that skips straight to the hops.
