Just when you think you’re out, fresh hop season pulls you back in… Garage Project Harvest Home, an encore of the harvest, comes from their awards powerhouse, Wild Workshop.

Brewed with raw (unmalted) wheat and pilsner malt, and flavoured with coriander seed and yen ben lemon peel, alongside the fresh Nelson Sauvin and Southern Cross hops.  Distinctly herbal and sappy in the aroma, with freshly cut green-wood and grape vine prunings scattered amongst the pithy citrus and spice.  Remarkably fresh and dry on the palate, with a big textural crunch from the raw wheat and a lingering citrus sharpness on the mildly bitter finish.  It’s nimble too, sneaking it’s not insignificant ABV past almost invisibly.

A very different application of fresh hopped beer, but an excellent one nonetheless.  Much like Hallertau’s ‘Big Belgian’ earlier in the season, the wet hops here present less a specific flavour, and more of a general freshness and vivacity that gives this saison a truly living character.
