Sunshine Brewing

Set up in 1989, Sunshine Brewing is one of the two oldest craft breweries in New Zealand still independently owned. Geoff Logan and Gerry Maude created the powerhouse regional brewery and their flagship beer Gisborne Gold is an undoubted star in the craft beer revolution in Aotearoa.

Gizzy Gold was hugely popular with Wellington students in the 1990s when it was on tap at Bar Bodega and helped drive that city’s love of independent and interesting beer.

Sunshine was sold in 2013 and has gone from strength to strength, moving to new premises and expanding the brewery, Gisborne Gold is still the top-seller and is now more loved by locals than students in Wellington.
