| As much as it was exciting to see the recent Superdelic hop step onto the stage of commercial New Zealand varieties, it’s one I’ve been struggling to really love when put in the lead of an IPA. That red berry confectionary note has always come on a bit strong. Perhaps though, I just needed to be drinking cheaper examples, because this super affordable six-pack from Moa (4.8% ABV) has nailed it. I should note, as much as it might be called “Superdelic”, it isn’t a solo-hopped beer, with Nectaron playing a supporting role. While the berry fruit is still distinct in the aroma, it’s buoyed by fresh tropical and zesty citrus notes that give it an appropriate lift. The palate is juicy and clean, with a surprisingly hefty bitterness waiting on the finish. Superbly drinkable and affordable. |
