I love a decent back story, especially when it comes to fresh new beer! This story reads AND tastes great … you might say the perfect combination. Three Kiwi brewing heavyweights (8 Wired, McLeod’s and Boneface) joined forces to create a hazy helping-hand for HUHA (Helping You Help Animals). Huha are based in Otaki and provide shelter for displaced and neglected animals. 100 per cent of the profit of this beer will be donated to HUHANZ charitable trust, so grab yourselves a can and support this worthy cause. Ok, onto the beer. Surprisingly it is rather light in mouthfeel which totally appeals to me. Maybe this hop head is coming to the end of his love for big, soupy hop-monsters … or perhaps I simply need a break? While the mouthfeel is light, you’re still presented with a nice juicy example of a well brewed beer from three breweries at the top of their game. I often wonder how easy those conversations are when all that experience comes together around the mash tun … hopefully one day I will be invited along to experience in person. From our furry friends (and beer lovers) I say thanks to all three breweries involved in this wonderful collaboration.
