Our resident Instagram influencer Dusty brings you a round-up of his best shots and favourite beers from the past few weeks.
Waitoa Island Hopper
This 6.3% Pacific IPA is hopped up on Bru-1 and Galaxy delivering notes of pineapple/lime/florals with a short, sharp, crisp mouthfeel, tingly carbonation and brut-like dryness to finish off, hammock beer right here.
McLeod’s Sea Spray
One of the best of the year for me, A dry-hopped pilsner (5.3%) with Nelson Sauvin and Riwaka. Off the tear it’s all dank gooseberry and passionfruit. Mouthfeel follows suit, it’s crispy/oily and hop-forward. Perfect summer drinking.
Sprig + Fern Jump Scare
A 4.5% schwarzbier with lots of roasty/toasty coffee notes with hints of cola and liquorice yet still maintains a lager crispness, low on ABV big on flavour — tasty!
Heyday Fossil Fuel
More rad tin art and a banging brew, Fossil Fuel is an 8% double IPA with a dino-mite hop bill of Mosiac, Simcoe and Citra. Immediate notes of melon/peach/orange with back-up hits of pine. Juicy mouthfeel, decent smack of bitterness with a syrupy finish. Crushable!
8 Wired Panic Point
Another crushable westy from 8 Wired features a ‘C-hop’ punchy combo of Cascade/Chinook/Centennial plus Simcoe. Loads of citrus/marmalade/pine first up with secondary hits of melon with a sharp clean finish. A ripper.
Hallertau Cold IPA
Straight of the pop I knew this would be a ripper. Throws out instant danky/grassy/zesty lime/grapefruit notes and follows through on the palate, crisp as mouthfeel and a drying finish. Cold gold.
Boneface x One Drop Ambush In The Night
A ripper of a collab between Boneface and Sydney’s One Drop —a 6.5% peach hazy IPA with lots of peach/spice/pine hits, sharp mouthfeel and savoury bitterness with a clean finish. A bit different to your usual hazy: recommended.
Kereru Duck Matter
A 6.5 % American Brown Ale where a hop-forward punch meets roasty coffee vibes with a floral, resiny mouthfeel, citric bitterness and a drying, earthy chocolate finish. Yum!
