Another day, another double (8 per cent ABV) from Epic. This one in particular sports the newly classified American hop ‘Talus’ (formerly HBC692), with Pacific Jade and Mosaic in support. Beautifully sharp and fresh on the nose, with tart mandarin and juicy peach over a faintly sweet coconut ice hovering further inside. Hugely fruity on the palate, with orange zest and ripe stone fruit surging over the rich malt base. The bitterness builds strongly, producing a tongue lashing finish that will resonate with anyone else nostalgic for the days when IPA had bite.
